Nursery Rhymes

When I was a little girl my mother used to read nursery rhymes to us. There was one, though, that she had a problem with. She would recite it like this:

Peter, Peter pumpkin eater
Had a wife and couldn't keeper her
Put her in a pumpkin shell
And went to jail for wife abuse

I'll say no more about my poor mother and the feminist movement.

Now that I've started reading nursery rhymes to my children, I've found one I don't much like either. I've taken the liberty to rewrite it. Let me know what you think.

There was a blessed woman who lived in a shoe
She had so many children she knew just what to do
She gave them some hugs, some kisses too
Then sent them to bed, loved through and through
